Last year I posted a sun catcher we made of a mosque, although it was a lovely project, I found myself doing most of the work, rather than my then 2 year old. So I decided to research and experiment a few ways my boys (1.5 & 3) could create their own with very little to no assistance from myself.
What you need and what to do:
Extras –
- Another paper plate with a circle cut out
- Paint, things to stick on, colouring pencils (however you want them to decorate it)
- PVC Glue to stick the first plate and second together (only if you do them separately)
Once that’s done, it’s up to you how you want them to decorate the plate, for the playgroup I just let the kids decorate around the cellophane on the plate itself (the inside where we stuck the cellophane on) with paint and glitter etc.
An alternative and neater way to decorate is to give them another plate (with a hole in it). From the pictures below I let Yousuf decorate the inside of his and Eesa the outside of his own (see below what I mean**); then I let it dry.
