I don’t know what it is with kids, but they love to be in the kitchen! Especially my boys, if I give them a bowl and a spoon, they will endlessly with their little imaginations make me lots of food and treats.

So I love to do the real deal with them, sometimes I take shortcuts, sometimes I don’t. Here I will post all the different ways I bake with my boys. So keep checking back…!

Boxed cake mix!
The easiest type of baking you can do with your kids, is to buy ready made cake mixes! There are so many on the shelves today, including themed ones, it couldn’t be easier. We found this Thomas themed one, and all we had to do was add some water, eggs and oil. Yousuf pretty much did most of it, and the mess was minimal.

Icing and decorating
Quite recently I had to make cupcakes for a friends dinner, so I made a few extras and gave the boys icing and lots of sprinkles. I scooped the icing into a ziplock bag and snipped off a tiny bit of the corner of the bag, and let the 3 year old squeeze away, whilst my 1 year old went sprinkle crazy on top of the icing. It was the perfect team effort!
