Great group activity or for a party craft – Ssuitable for 1.5 years and above!
I’ve done this before with paper but with a canvas it looked so much more nicer and a keepsake that will last longer.
I also took up the opportunity to do it at Yousuf’s 4th Birthday party! it was rally easy to set up and I added a few extra touches to make it easy to prep on the day!
This is really simple and easy to set up, and to get the kids excited about. All you need is:
- A small canvas
- Masking tape
- Paint (I used Ikea paint)
- Paint brushes and sponges
*For the Angry birds themed party I made a small label on A4 landscape; saying “Let’s make some angry art” – I also included a single paint brush and a sponge to make it easier for the kids at the party.
With the masking tape simply stick down on the paper your desired shape, letter or whatever you can think of (For the party I did the first initial of each little guest!) .
Then its time to paint, we used the sponges/ brushes to dab the paint on (try to limit it to 2, max 3 colours), and make sure the whole canvas including the masking tape has been painted over and then leave to dry.
Once dried, peel off a small part of the masking tape, then ask your little one to help. He will be thrilled to see a shape or letter develop under all that mess he created!
So simple and easy and an excellent opportunity to talk about colours, letters and shapes.
